This is it! I utterly, completely fell in love with this beach home the minute my little fingers flipped the page of the October 2010 issue of Coastal Living magazine. The dining room space sealed the deal for me and there was no changing my mind. The thought of possibly starting your day eating breakfast gazing out at a beautiful beach…right now is just mind-boggling. I love this design so much I wanted to do a little more research to find out more about the architect and designer.
The architect is Bobby McAlpine of McAlpine Tankersley Architecture located in Montgomery, Alabama. Mr. McAlpine designed his first home at the tender age of 5 . I would say it’s in his blood. He has been designing gorgeous homes for over 25 years. The firm along with his partners is described as “nurturing, compassionate, and soulful.” I would agree. To assist with the home interior design he utilized Susan Ferrier of McAlpine Booth and Ferrier Interiors. The mission of the home interior design firm is to create timeless, emotionally evocative interiors that reflect the vision and needs of their clients. And together they have designed from top to bottom over 40 seaside spaces.
What I adore about this beach home:
Simple yet a bit fussy
Muted colors with variations of those colors throughout the home
Dining brought front and center
Lots of windows with panes
18 foot ceilings
Comfortable outdoor seating area
Balanced the masculine and feminine design in the master bedroom
Mr. McAlpine likes the Dutch Colonial elements and the palette taken from the sea, shore, rocks, and stormy sky.
Ms. Ferrier likes the communal table oriented toward the view.
My last comments on this home is I am in love with it and when I transition to beach life rest assured Mr. McAlpine and his firm will get a call from me. Thank you for a fabulous design.
