Vintage Nautical Design Treasures

Ah I have treat for you today vintage nautical treasures from the lovely Galveston, Texas area.  The owners of this wonderful shop are Michael and Adrienne Culpepper and the name of their shop is “Nautical Antiques and Decor.” The shop specializes in ship salvage items Compasses, Sextants, Code and Courtesy Flags, Old Glass Net Floats, Ships Wheels, Brass, Copper, and Galvanized Navigation Lights, Life rings, Oars, Binnacles, Engine Order Telegraphs, Rope, Buoys, and much more.  The owners take a trip once a year overseas to Asia and the Far East to find these treasures and have them brought over for their shop.   In January and March they received a large shipment of ship salvaged items photos of those items are here and here .  The shop has moved recently to expand so they could house more of their wonderful nautical finds.

I do a little vintage shopping but this shop is the first I have come across with such an abundance of vintage nautical items.  I’ve come across a nice vintage piece here and there but never a shop that has been dedicated to nothing but wonderful nautical treasures.  Blog friends there is just so much in this wonderful shop that I just couldn’t post photos of all of it.

I can envision a few design ideas here, glass floats in a nice wire basket on a coffee table or dining table.  It would be nice to take some of the flags to make pillows, dog beds or a nice tablecloth for a picnic outside.  I could vision some of the buoys on a wall in three’s to make a statement behind a couch or on a wall in the dining room.  I mean the possibilities are just endless.  One of my faves is the little wooden boat with all the glass floats.  Oh I can’t forget those wonderful wooden mermaids I believe most of the have been sold but here is a direct link to them.  The wooden mermaids would make a great conversation piece.  I hope you enjoy their finds I sure did.

The following is a list of some of the items:

Fishing nets

Glass floats

Wooden mermaids

Old ship wrecked goods

My parents used to have old Japanese glass floats…. I wonder where they are? Haven’t seen them since I was a kid. They’d be awesome in a garden or something… cool looking store! I’d have fun checking it out, that’s for sure!
