Alright, Alright it’s a sandcastle contest done Texas style and yes it’s done big.  The contest has been held for the past 25 years on the first Saturday of June by AIA Houston.  This year over 25,000 attended the event which is held on East Beach, Galveston.  According to the USA Today report it’s one of the biggest held each year.  The people who contruct these sand castles are designers, architects and engineers in the greater Houston area.  The teams start their design thoughts months in advance but on the day of the event it all comes together in about 5 hours.  Yes, it’s done the day of the event the teams come out in the morning start their sculpting almost nonstop.  It’s amazing the design, time and effort put into this competition.  The first photo is the winner of the 2011 competition Jacobs of Houston.  I mentioned before there are lots of happenings in the beach world and on Texas beaches and I will try hard to bring it all to you.

Agree with Coastal Blue Ocean. That requires a lot of talent! I can’t even build a small one.

How Cool! My bf is from Texas so I have a soft spot for everything big and Texas style. These designs look like a lot of fun. I have never been able to catch one of these exhibits myself, so thanks for the tour.
