Yes, I have a love affair with natural fabrics and it’s a long affair that started when I got my first pair of linen pants and linen blouse years ago. I thought it was a very interesting fabric it was natural and it had been used for hundreds if not thousands of years ago. A brief history on the fabric it was used by the Egyptian people as shrouds for burials and they often wore only white because of the extreme heat and it was a fabric that allowed them to feel cooler. I know must people have a love hate relationship with linen because it wrinkles so easily and sometimes looses its shape. It’s true it does but it still has a place in my heart as one of the most fascinating fabrics ever.
I am a huge fan of any type of natural elements used to make fabrics or for other uses. I love hemp, linen, burlap, jute, seagrass and bamboo. I opened the design file and tried to pull out some items that may be out of the ordinary made with natural fabrics. Such as rugs being made from linen and bamboo, lamp shades and message boards made from linen and furniture pieces made from linen. I currently have two sofas in my home covered in linen slip covers and one I have recovered several times over just to get a different look. So, its a true love for me. My want is 100% linen sheets and I have whole blog post coming on those soon. I picked up two linen pillowcases years ago and I won’t tell you how long ago that was and I still have them and each time I wash them they get softer and more comfy.
The fashion aspect of linen is always a reminder of warm days and cool nights. I included just a few pieces above to just give a feel of light breezy items.
