Oh My It’s Driftwood Monday

2011-09-05  One of my absolute favorite blog posts and it was a sure hit.  I think I got more comments here than any other.  Loved all the neat inspiration regarding driftwood and it’s uniqueness.  Enjoy, and I will see you back on Tuesday with some new inspiration the Beach Coast Style way.

I love driftwood and it’s going to make its way into my beach home in various different forms.  I love table lamps, over head lighting and little odds and ends used for votive lighting.  I think it adds such a romantic and soft feel to any space.  It doesn’t seem to overpower the space; just the added touch needed to bring the outdoors in.  I love that it’s a constant reminder of the beach.  I have often said I really want to add natural elements into my space and this covers a small portion of that requirement.

My favorites are the driftwood mirrors and the overhead driftwood chandelier.  The driftwood chandelier would look so lovely over a dining room table over looking the beach.  Another idea would be a smaller scaled down version hanging over the bed in the master bedroom or over the beautiful bathtub in the master bath would look heavenly.  We could throw in a few rose petals, a glass of wine and some soothing bath essentials and we might just drift away.

It’s something about beach driftwood that reminds me of life.  It kinda of just floats along the ocean not knowing which way to go and finally it makes it to its destination.

Hi Inka,
I would love to see your creations especially the seahorse. I hope you post them on your blog so we can snoop around and look at your masterful creations!

I love driftwood also. My next projects (after I finish the one I am working on) is going to be driftwood pictures. I think I will start with a seahorse and go from there. I have collected driftwood from my beach and kayaking adventures. Now it is time to make it into something beautiful. Thanks for sharing. It got me motivated! Inka

I have driftwood lamps up in the mountains at our ski condo…you can find driftwood all over the streams and lakes…so it feels appropriate up there, too. Love your photos.

I so love it in a small bathroom! I would let it be the focus of the bathroom. A double version over the master bath would be nice to!

yes you do! I am not sure I am crafty enough to do anything with it but I love seeing bundled and places so neatly on a coffee or side table.

I’m a driftwood fan! I have a huge driftwood ball that I bet you would love, Cynthia! I really like your idea of the small driftwood chandelier in the bedroom….hmmm, thinking of a diy…

What wonderful treasures! I need to keep my eyes peeled for driftwood now when I’m out ‘shopping’ for rocks.

So funny, we just got back from the Las Vegas home + gift show (we are looking for fun new items for fall and Holiday!) and driftwood items were everywhere.

I found some wonderful affordable driftwood lamps that will go online in just a few weeks!

Great Post
